Non-Discrimination Policy

Salt Marsh Opera is an equal opportunity organization. Discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion or creed, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, ancestry, national origin, citizenship, immigration status, physical disability, intellectual disability, learning disability, mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, genetic information (including family medical history), political association, or military/veteran status is illegal and will not be tolerated in any of Salt Marsh Opera's activities or operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, the appointment and removal of Board members; hiring and firing of employees or contractors; selection of performers, volunteers, and vendors; and providing of services.

Salt Marsh Opera will provide reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees who need them for medical or religious reasons, as required by law.

Employees can report discrimination to the President of Salt Marsh Opera’s Board of Trustees, via email at president@saltmarshopera.org. Salt Marsh Opera will promptly and impartially investigate all complaints of discrimination; and, where necessary, it will promptly undertake effective corrective action and/or preventative action.

Employees and other individuals associated with Salt Marsh Opera will not be punished for good faith reporting of discrimination, participating in a discrimination investigation or lawsuit, or opposing discrimination.

Salt Marsh Opera will protect the confidentiality of individuals who report discrimination or participate in a discrimination investigation, to the greatest extent possible. Whenever appropriate and practicable, Salt Marsh Opera will notify an individual who reports discrimination about the status of their complaint, the results of any investigation, and any corrective and preventative action taken in response.

All Board members, employees, and other persons in leadership or management roles or having human resources responsibilities at Salt Marsh Opera are required to respond appropriately to discrimination or report it to individuals who are authorized to respond.

Grievance Procedure

Complaints concerning discrimination on the basis of disability by Salt Marsh Opera may be sent to the President of Salt Marsh Opera’s Board of Trustees, via email at president@saltmarshopera.org. The Board President will contact the complainant within fifteen (15) calendar days after receipt of the complaint to discuss the complaint and will respond in writing within fifteen (15) days of the discussion.
