LA BOHÈME | SEPTEMBER 21-23
Showtimes and locations vary
Our Fall production is always the most spectacular and ambitious of the season, and this year will be no exception. We are excited to present Giacomo Puccini’s classic La bohème, one of the world’s most popular Operas and the inspiration for the Broadway hit musical Rent. For more showtime information and to get your tickets before they sell out, call (860) 535-0753.
Every year, Salt Marsh Opera brings the beauty and charm of Opera into local schools. The Kids Love Opera! program does more than provide young minds with a day of theater, it immerses them in the Opera experience. During a 45-minute classroom session with a singer and accompanist, students learn about the history, plot and composition of an opera, then explore songs in a shared learning experience. Shortly thereafter we present a full production, where the students are able to use and appreciate everything they’ve learned.
Not only does Kids Love Opera! nurture the children’s creative appreciation, it teaches valuable lessons in teamwork and exposes them to the multifaceted world of performing arts. The program is customizable to meet any school’s enrichment goals and enhance cross-curriculum lesson plans.
Salt Marsh Opera has been providing southeastern CT and southern RI with well-received Opera since 2001. Our efforts to grow Opera are made possible through the generosity of our community foundations, corporate sponsors and individual donors. Your generous support helps us expand and enrich our Kids Love Opera! program in a number of ways. It helps create dynamic, multi-media guides to accompany classroom instruction. Support also enables us to deliver complete productions to multiple schools in varying regions, such as this year’s original opera Jack and Jill and the Happening Hill!
With different levels of corporate and individual sponsorship, there’s always a way to help reach and inspire local communities. To see how you can become a sustainer and help bring music to life for children throughout Southeastern Connecticut and Southern Rhode Island click here.
